Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
